Which acting course is right for your child?

ACTING 1 WITH IMPROV

Ages: 8-13

Acting 1 with improv is a dynamic exploration of scene work and foundational acting techniques. Discover the fundamentals of scene creation, cultivating trust, support, and agreement among performers. Throughout the course, we'll encourage playful expression, character depth, and the incorporation of environment on stage. Whether igniting relationships or navigating imaginary landscapes, students will gain the skills to seamlessly apply these techniques in both improv games and real-life situations. While the emphasis is on reveling in the joy of the creative process, this class also introduces script reading, stage acting basics, and the art of memorization. Join us for a transformative experience where having fun converges with the development of dramatic and theatrical expression.

 

ADVANCED ACTING

Ages: 10+ with a year of experience

Students in this class must have at least one year of previous acting experience, either in class or on stage.  In this class students will explore advanced acting technique and script analysis. 

 

ENCORE (HOMESCHOOL)

Be in a show with no audition required! This program is designed for kids to get the experience of being in a show without all the hassle and anxiety of auditions.  Everyone who signs up gets a featured role.  Students will learn about the rehearsal and production process at a slower pace while working with a director, choreographer and music director.

MUSIC VIDEOS
Ages: 10-17

Embark on an extraordinary journey, tailored for the ultimate triple threats! Whether you're a passionate singer, actor, writer, dancer, drawer, or producer, this class is your creative haven. As a collaborative team, collectively choose a favorite song, reimagine its lyrics, and craft a captivating storyline and storyboard.The class does require a nominal $130 production fee for the professional recording, editing and filming of the production. Additionally, we request parental flexibility and communication for on-site location filming, scheduled at designated times or places (TBD, with at least 4 weeks' notice). Step into the limelight, record your vocalsr in a professional studio, and be part of an exciting film production. Unleash your talents in the dynamic and flexible world of Music Videos, where creativity shines in a visually stunning production. Are you ready to be part of this extraordinary journey?

ONE ACT PLAY (HOMESCHOOL)

Ages: 10-18

Set sail on a transformative journey into the realm of theatrical artistry with our immersive one-act play course, culminating in an enchanting evening performance in mid-May. Participants will engage in the audition process, delve into the nuances of a typical rehearsal schedule, commit to memorization, and refine the art of receiving and implementing acting notes and critiques. Moreover, students will cultivate a sense of teamwork as they actively contribute to the setting, gripping, and placement of sets and props for the production. This comprehensive experience extends even beyond the realms of comedy and theater acting, offering students a weekly 30-45 minute exposure to the intricacies of film acting techniques. A nominal $25 production fee is required, and parents are invited to volunteer up to 5 hours, contributing to the creation of costumes or set pieces. As a gesture of appreciation, parents and immediate family members are guaranteed complimentary tickets to witness the culmination of this artistic endeavor during the captivating evening performance.

 

ENCORE 

Ages: 12-18 

Be in a show with no audition required! This program is designed for kids to get the experience of being in a show without all the hassle and anxiety of auditions.  Everyone who signs up gets a featured role.  Students will learn about the rehearsal and production process while working with a director, choreographer and music director.  A great way to build your resume and to get theatre experience. 

IMPROV (OFF THE CUFF) 

Ages: 10+ 

Students in this class must have general understanding of theatre either through class or production.  In this class students will learn and develop improvisational skills.  Improv is an important skill for any actor at any level.  Students will be selected from this class to perform for an audience throughout the semester with our improv performance troupe, "Off the Cuff".

BEGINNING/INTERMEDIATE MUSICAL THEATRE TAP

Ages: 8+ 

This class will build on the skills and terminology learned in Beginning Tap.  Students will practice more advanced technique and choreography. 

*All age ranges are subjective and exceptions may be made based on a particular child's experience in each discipline.

BEGINNING MUSICAL THEATRE TAP

Ages: 8+ 

No experience necessary! Learn the basic terminology and skills found in tap dancing. Tap choreography uses these basic steps in more advanced ways, so having a strong grasp of the basics is essential.

Dress Code

Our general dress code policy for all classes is CLOSED TOED TENNIS SHOES, and loose fitting, non-restrictive clothing that promotes movement, but is not revealing.  A more specific dress code may be communicated by instructors during your first weeks of class. Tap shoes are required for tap classes.
